Photorama™ is a Window's application based on free text scan searches, incorporating Boolean Logic terms, to be made across the entire image description database.
Each image description can have user defined field names of variable length. The only minimum requirement is a filename and title.
Photorama™ has a limit of 1,000 images and Photorama Deluxe™ has a limit of 2,000 images that can be stored and retrieved. For large collections it is necessary to upgrade to Perfect Pictures which contains a comprehensive database engine.
Photorama™ can be easily updated with new images as they become available or totally new image libraries can be added to the system.
Photographs are digitised at medium resolution of 768 x 576 pixels in 16.7M colours. Slightly larger than a PC screen set at 640 x 480, images are displayed in full with borders at a PC screen setting of 800 x 600. Images are compressed using Compression Laboratories' JPEG compression routine, the fastest we could find that requires no special equipment or decompression card. The average file size of each image is approximately 50k, or 10,000 per CD or !5,000 per gigabyte.
By working at medium resolution you can use a low price scanner to digitise your images. These images will be adequate for compository work, mock-ups, positionals and inhouse reference printing.
We can digitise Photographs at a higher resolution where high quality printing is required, however the file size of each image would make it impractical to store on-line. Two versions could be generated at the time of digitising: high and medium. The high resolution image would be stored off-line, CD or tape, and the medium resolution accessed via Photorama™ and in the image description would be included a reference to the location of the high resolution image.
